| AFG works with one clinic at a time to provide
it with medical equipment and medication. This year, AFG plans
to assist Jean Paul II Clinic in Conakry. The clinic does not
have running water or electricity. We are working to provide
a generator and water well. Each year, thousands of Guineans
suffer from cholera and other infectious diseases. Cholera is
a gastrointestinal disease that causes excessive diarrhea, which
leads to dehydration and then death if left untreated. Last year,
AFG assisted in medical efforts that helped save more than 6,000
Guineans by providing hydration treatments and antibiotics to
people suffering from a cholera epidemic.
AFG not only helped treat patients stricken by cholera, but
it also worked to stop the spread of the disease by seeking
to eliminate the source. Last year, the lack of trash pickup
led to waste in the streets of Guinea, causing germs to spread
rapidly. To combat this problem, AFG rented garbage trucks
and gathered men to help remove trash from roadways in order
to help stop deadly bacteria from spreading. These efforts
are just the beginning of our work to help keep the people
of Guinea healthy. We are pressing forward to accomplish the
goals we have set. Please help us continue the fight to keep
people healthy and save lives.
